James "Jim" Rountree, 81, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was born on June 3, 1943, in Pine Bluff to Wiley C. Rountree and Dorothy Smith Rountree. He was raised and educated in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School in 1961. After attending East New Mexico State University for a year, he worked on the family farm in Artesia, New Mexico. Jim later returned to Arkansas, pursuing studies at the University of Arkansas-Monticello and the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff. He also served in the Army Reserves for seven years during the Vietnam War.

A dedicated entrepreneur, Jim purchased and operated Mid-South Appliance Parts for 36 years before retiring. In retirement, he found joy in serving as a substitute teacher at Watson Chapel High School, where he became a beloved member of the school community.

Jim had a deep love for his family and animals. He found happiness in the simple pleasures of life, like tending to his yard, washing his cars, and enjoying the company of his pets. He was known for his kind spirit, warm conversations, and sharing laughs with friends over a cold drink.

Jim was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Louann Rountree. He is survived by his stepdaughter, Wendy Patrick of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; his stepson, Alex Patrick (Leslie) and their three children—Charlie, Sofia, and George—of Atlanta, Georgia; and his brothers, Wiley and Chuck Rountree, whose locations are unknown.

In accordance with Jim's wishes, no formal funeral services will be held. However, his family invites all who knew him to share warm thoughts or memories to honor his life.
